Programme of Studies

Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, offers a three-year, six-semester Honours programme in Humanities, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (BA), known as TDC-H (CBCS). The College offers this programme under affiliation to the Bodoland University, Kokrajhar. The Bodoland University, Kokrajhar is an affiliating State University of Assam, which also offers in-campus study programmes. The Three-year Degree Programme  is offered under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

The College offers honours in six subjects – English, Bodo, Political Science, Education, Economics and History. 

In the years to come the College will offer degree programmes in Science and Commerce leading to the Bachelor’s Degree as well as other academic and professional programmes.

 

COURSE TYPES

Courses of study offered under TDC (CBCS) comprise the following types:

CORE COURSE
A course to be compulsorily studied by a student as a core requirement to cover the basics that a student is expected to imbibe in a particular discipline of study.

ELECTIVE COURSE
A course which can be chosen from a pool of courses and which may be very specific or specialized or advanced or supportive to the discipline / subject of study or which provides an extended scope or which enables an exposure to some other discipline / subject / domain or nurtures the student’s proficiency / skill.

Elective courses are of two types:
1. Generic Elective (GE) Courses: Elective courses chosen from an unrelated discipline / subject with an intention to seek exposure beyond the discipline of choice. A Core Course offered in a programme of study may be treated as a Generic Elective by another subject.
2. Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) Courses: Elective courses offered under the main discipline of study.

ABILITY ENHANCEMENT COURSE (AEC)
AEC courses are of two types:
1. Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC): These are compulsory courses based on content that leads to knowledge enhancement. These are mandatory for all disciplines.
2. Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC): These are compulsory value-based and/or skill-based courses aimed at providing hands-on training and skills so as to increase students’ employability.
